Rendezvous 2018

Penticton Geology and Lapidary Club - Your Rendezvous 2018 Host Club

Rock Creek is 50km east of Osoyoos, in the Kettle River Valley.
Our venue is the Rock Creek Fairgrounds, where the buildings are surrounded by lush green grass, and there is plenty of dry camping room on site. There will be electrical hook-ups for about 30 RV's, not 30amp outlets, but enough power to keep your house batteries topped up. Coin-operated showers.

Dogs are strictly prohibited on the Fairgrounds, however there is dry camping across the road where dogs are allowed.

Our goal with this blog site is to give you as much advance information as possible on this beautiful area, services, attractions, and rich history.

When we aren't out rock hounding, we'll be adding information to this site from now until May 2018.

The May long weekend is the start of the busy tourist season in the area, so if you want a motel room, or full hook-up campground, you should book as soon as possible.

We are receiving completed registrations, no problem. We have had reports of people not being able to open the pdf docs, and not being able to save the doc in order to e-mail it.

Have you downloaded the latest version of Acrobat reader?

It works..........

Rock Candy Mine Trip

This will be on the BCLS site in a printable doc soon. At the bottom of the post, there is also a link to the printable document.

Rendezvous 2018
Rock Candy Mine Trip - Fluorite

The Rock Candy Mine has agreed to open early for Rendezvous. The cost per person is $25.00.
Space is limited on each trip, and the number of trips will be determined by the number of people pre-registered. Maximum 30 people per day.

Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for this Field Trip.
To have mine open for us, we have to commit, so there is a dead line to pre-register:
Registration Deadline: April 13th
$25.00 per person, cheque payable to Penticton Geology and Lapidary Club
Mail to:    Penticton Club, c/o S. Albo, P.O. Box 29, Osoyoos, B.C. V0H 1V0

Questions directed to Duane Hamm:   250-498-8845

For this trip:
·         Departure in the morning will be earlier than the other Field Trips – as always – full tank of gas
·         Participants will need sturdy footwear and a back pack
·         There is a walk of about one mile from the parking to the base of the area, then a rather strenuous climb to the site. Take what you can carry out with you.

Note: If the road into the site is rendered impassable by spring conditions, your fee will be refunded to you at registration.

Rock Mode

I live at Mt. Baldy - <40 minutes from the Rendezvous venue, and my mind has been on skiing, not rocks in recent weeks. I will make some time to get some updates to the BCLS website shortly.
